GT racing returns to Western Australia this weekend with a quality Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS field attacking CARCO.com.au Raceway for the first time since 2017.
Triple Eight Race Engineering has called on its endurance driver Richie Stanaway to fill the void left by Broc Feeney due to his Supercars commitments to partner Prince Jefri Ibrahim. Stanaway impressed at the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour and adds to a quality field.
Shannons Insurance pairing Liam Talbot and Max Hofer will aim to continue their winning start to the season in the Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia-prepared R8 LMS GT3 Evo2.
Their biggest rival may come from its team entry of JAMEC Racing featuring triple-champion Geoff Emery, who returned to the field with a podium at Bathurst and is joined by German Audi Sport factory ace Christopher Mies.
Reigning double-Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS winner Yasser Shahin enjoyed podium success at the Mountain, but a second race penalty proved a setback in his Porsche debut. The South Australian will be determined to take his maiden Porsche victory alongside Garnet Patterson and EMA Motorsport.
It will be an increased Mercedes-AMG attack as Jayden Ojeda joins Ross Poulakis in the Harrolds Volante Rosso Motorsport entry, Glenn Wood forms a renews his partnership with M Motorsport’s Justin McMillan and factory ace Jordan Love returns to his home track pairing with Tony Bates.
Once again, Brett Hobson will be joined by Mike Bailey in GWR Motorsport’s Pro-Am Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Brad Schumacher dominated the Am Class at Bathurst, but won’t have it all his own way in the Schumacher Motorsport Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo2 as the RAM Motorsport pair of Michael Sheargold and Garth Walden will aim to turn the tide.
Sheargold has the advantage of completing laps of CARCO.com.au Raceway pre-event in a Formula Ford enhancing his experience.
Michael Kokkinos continues to improve in the Launch Racing/MC Labour Audi, with Ash Samadi and Matt Stoupas once again paired with Paul Stokell in the sole-KFC entry.
GT Trophy’s sole entry marks the return to motorsport of Renee Gracie in an OnlyFans-backed Audi R8 LMS GT3 Ultra, while GT4 is represented by Mark Griffith in his Nineteen Corporation/Daimler Trucks Brisbane Mercedes-AMG GT3.
The Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS will contest two 60-minute races across this weekend.
