Christopher Mies excited for Perth debut

Audi Sport ace Christopher Mies is a regular on Australian shores, but will make his debut at CARCO.com.au Raceway this weekend in Perth for Round 2 of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS.

Although it will be his first time in Perth, a whole lot of familiar surrounds Mies as he reunites with Geoff Emery and JAMEC Racing, a moniker he won the 2015 Australian GT Championship under.

Mies last year took victories alongside Yasser Shahin at Phillip Island and Adelaide in The Bend Motorsport Park-backed Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia entry.

At Bathurst’s opening round, Emery finished on the podium joined by Mies’ fellow factory ace Christer Joens in what was a late deal to return to the category he is a three-time champion in.

Excited for the challenge a new circuit provides, Mies is keen to experience what Perth has to offer.

“Very much yes, I’ve never been to Perth before and I am excited to explore the track as well as the city,” Mies said

When we did a month of holiday with my family after the Bathurst 12 hour we wanted to go to Perth, but had to leave earlier than expected.

“I’m excited to Tick that box now.

Aiming to add to his already extensive list of victories in Australia, Mies partner Emery in what has already provided much success during a dominant run for Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia through the mid-2010s

“I’ve known Geoff for quite some time now, it’s super cool that we’re back together,” Mies revealed.

“He’s a good character on and off the track. I am already looking forward to share a car with him once again.”

Mies will be limited in his appearances in Australia for the rest of this season, but has one trip planned.

“I’d like to come more often, but unfortunately I have a very busy calendar this year, with some quite interesting projects coming up as well,” Mies explained.

“At the moment as far as I know I might be back for Adelaide but nothing fixed yet.”
