There will be a distinct Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS flavour at the latest round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge at Indianapolis.
The Indianapolis 8 Hour marks the final round of the Intercontinental GT Challenge calendar after starting in Australia at the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour in February.
Taking place on October 2-5, the race will feature some of the leading driver from the Fanatec GT Australia series.
Realta/Tigani Motorsport’s Jayden Ojeda will join the two-time Bathurst 12 Hour winning SunEnergy1 Racing squad led by ex-pat Australian businessman Kenny Habul, with international Mercedes-AMG factory ace Luca Auer completing the line-up.
Also on the Mercedes-AMG side will be Triple Eight Race Engineering as Prince Jefri Ibrahim completes his international season in the United States partnered by Australian Jordan Love and DTM driver Arjun Maini.
Previous Bathurst 12 Hour winners Earl Bamber Motorsport will enter the event with a Porsche 911 GT3 R in Pro-Am featuring Dayle ITM Team MPC’s Brendon Leitch, factory junior driver Bastian Buus and Adrian D’Silva.
“I’m stoked that Earl has invited me back to the team for Indianapolis,” said Leitch.
“It was really disappointing not to feature at Spa and I know between myself and Adrian we’ve definitely got some unfinished business,” said Leitch.
“For me personally, there is no reason why I shouldn’t be at the top of my game having only just raced at Indy in IMSA. I know I had a lot left in me. It will be good to go back after just a couple of weeks. It’ll be like I never left!
“Porsche currently leads the IGTC manufacturers’ championship so we want to do them proud and give them the best chance possible of winning that for the first time since 2020. I’m looking forward to racing with Bastian too given his pedigree as a Porsche factory driver.”
Tom Sargent is also competing as he completes his maiden season in the sister Fanatec GT World Challenge America Powered by AWS category entered alongside Ayhancan Guven and Kyle Washington in a GMG Racing Porsche.
The Intercontinental GT Challenge finale comes ahead of the next event of Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS at Sydney Motorsport Parkas part of the Shannons SpeedSeries on October 18-20.
