SRO Motorsports Australia is pleased to confirm that the Ferrari Challenge Australasia is the first confirmed support category for the all-new SRO-promoted racing events for 2025.
After revealing that it will take over the Shannons SpeedSeries next year, SRO Australia has quickly secured an agreement with Ferrari Australasia.
The Ferrari Challenge is all-new to the southern hemisphere, bringing the world’s most iconic one-make race series ‘down under.’
Competitors will vie for two titles: Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia (for Ferrari 296 Challenge drivers), and Ferrari Challenge Coppa Shell Australasia (for Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo entrants).
The Ferrari Challenge will join the SRO Australia events at the Phillip Island, Sydney Motorsport Park and Shell V-Power Motorsport Park (The Bend).
The race format of Ferrari Challenge Australasia will mirror that of other Ferrari championships and include two practice sessions, two qualifying sessions and two 30min races at each round.
SRO Motorsports Australia CEO Ben McMellan says that having the new Ferrari Challenge act as a support class is the perfect partner.
“Having Ferrari Challenge join us is the perfect partner for our new events,” said McMellan.
“After seeing the success of the GT Festival, we feel that there is a real desire for fans to watch GT style cars
“Adding the Ferrari Challenge is great news and we look forward to working with them in 2025 and beyond.”
Filippo Zanier, Ferrari Challenge's Business Development and Special Projects manager says that aligning with SRO Australia's events in 2025 is a natural fit.
“In the debut year of Ferrari Challenge Trofeo Pirelli Australasia, we are glad to share the track with Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia," said Zanier.
"Ferrari and SRO have a longstanding partnership in Asia Pacific, and extending this cooperation to Australia was natural. We look forward to working together on an exciting 2025 season.”
