After a successful return to the streets of Adelaide last weekend, the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS will return in 2023.
Local driver Yasser Shahin secured back-to-back titles courtesy of two race wins on the Adelaide Parklands Street Circuit where he was partnered by Audi Sport ace Christopher Mies in The Bend Motorsport Park R8 LMS GT3 Evo II.
One of the largest fields of the season contested the final event representing leading GT marques Audi, Mercedes-AMG, Bentley and Porsche.
Mies wasn’t the only international GT driver to join at the final round as South African Audi Sport gun Kelvin van der Linde, Australian ace Nick Foster racing in Asia in addition to seven-time touring car champion Jamie Whincup led to a competitive field.
“We saw some incredible racing on the streets of Adelaide last week and we are already counting down the days until the next event,” said SA Motor Sport Board CEO Mark Warren.
“The quality and intensity of racing was on full display at this year’s VALO Adelaide 500, and we will once again offer a world-class motorsport line-up in 2023.
“We are working hard to ensure that we build on the success of the 2022 event and the line-up of support categories will ensure that we bring four days of action-packed racing for our fans while also showcasing our incredible racetrack to the world.”
The full 2023 Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS calendar will be released in due course.
