Adrian Deitz and David Wall will return to the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia presented by AWS at Phillip Island next weekend, competing in the Pro-Am class aboard the Wall Racing Lamborghini Hurracan for a pair of one-hour races.
It will be the first appearance for the Lamborghini since February’s Bathurst 12 Hour and amazingly, it will be the first time Wall has raced the car at Phillip Island. The two-time Australian GT Champion is looking forward to returning to the category. “I always enjoy the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a GT3-spec car – a big thank you to Adrian for inviting me to drive with him,” Wall said. “While it will be my first time racing the Lambo at Phillip Island, I’ve tested the car there and it is well suited to the fast, flowing nature of the track.” Deitz is familiar with the Phillip Island circuit, having competed in every GT event at the venue since 2015. According to Wall, he is always striving to improve his on-track performances. “I enjoy working with Adrian and helping him get the best out of his driving,” Wall said. “His approach to going racing is very similar to mine. He’s there for enjoyment, but he also takes his motorsport seriously and out of the car, he’s very analytical. He enjoys reviewing data and footage and he’s good at using feedback to learn and improve. “Adrian has done a lot of laps at Phillip Island and he’s driving well, so I have no doubt he’ll be setting some competitive times. “The Wall Racing crew have been working tirelessly in the lead-up to Phillip Island and they’re looking forward to the event as much as we are. “The GT field is very competitive this year with some high-profile drivers in the Pro-Am class, but with our consistency and strategy, we’re aiming to be in the mix,” Wall concluded.Tickets for the second round of the SpeedSeries season are still available via motorsporttickets.com.au.
For those who are unable to make the trip to Phillip Island, Stan Sport will provide live and uninterrupted coverage from most of Saturday and Sunday’s action, while 9Gem will also broadcast three hours of Saturday afternoon’s racing.
The third round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS kicks off at the Shannons SpeedSeries Phillip Island event on 12-14 May.
