Arise Racing GT’s Chaz Mostert and Liam Talbot enjoyed a successful weekend at the GT Festival to extend their lead at the top of the standings entering the closing stages of the season.
The pair returned to Signevent Victory Lane in the opening race at Phillip Island, replicating the same result in season opening event in April. Mostert and Talbot failed to replicate this result in Race 2, but followed their Arise Racing GT teammates home to finish second.
The margin sits at 30-points back to Will Brown and Brad Schumacher in the Shaw & Partners/Kelso Electrical Team MPC Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II after the duo endured a tough return to the Island.
Making a big jump in the standings was Arise Racing GT’s Jaxon Evans and Elliott Schutte following victory in Race 2. Entering the GT Festival round in third, the pair sit third 34-points behind their teammates.
Staying in fourth is the Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo of Declan Fraser and Peter Hackett, sitting a further five-points behind the second Ferrari.
Completing the top five is the Dayle ITM Team MPC Audi line-up of Brendon Leitch and Tim Miles following a fraught weekend at the GT Festival. The New Zealand duo entered the round second in the standings just two-points behind the leaders, now it’s a 45-point margin.
In Am Class, it's a Mercedes-AMG 1-2 as RAM Motorsport's Mike Sheargold and Garth Walden sit 25-points clear of the Supabarn Supermarkets/Tigani Motorsport entry of brothers James and Theo Koundouris.
Ash Samadi leads the Audi charge in third a further 34-points behind.
