RAM Motorsport targeting extended Am Class lead

After a short turnaround between events, RAM Motorsport will be back in action this weekend for Round 8 and 9 for Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS.

Returning to Phillip Island for the championship’s second visit to the iconic Victorian venue this year, drivers Michael Sheargold and Garth Walden will be looking to continue to build on their momentum from the previous rounds to add to their consistent results.

“I made a good step forward in my driving in recent events,” said Sheargold.

“We’ve found some good pace in the car, and personally, I’ve been getting up to speed much quicker each event this year.”

“The short turnaround between events should help us continue that momentum at Phillip Island.”

However, Phillip Island hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for the Sydney-based squad, something they’ll be aiming to turn around this time out.

“Phillip Island hasn’t traditionally been a happy hunting ground for us in recent years,” Sheargold continued.

“While we’ve always managed to salvage a podium from one of the races over the weekend, the other has involved contact and damage.”

“It would be really good to stitch together a good weekend this time and secure a good result in both races.”

This weekend’s event at Phillip Island will feature an expanded track schedule for GT World Challenge Australia with extra tests and pre-qualifying sessions prior to hour-long races on both Saturday and Sunday.

The event at Phillip Island will feature free entry for those wanting to catch all the action in person while the races will be broadcast live on Foxtel and Kayo as well as the GT World YouTube channel.
