International success for current Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS leader

Arise Racing GT’s Liam Talbot has tasted success in an international cameo at the Misano 12 Hour.

Racing a latest generation Aston Martin Vantage GT3 prepared by Prime Speed Sport, Talbot managed to finish third in the Pro-Am Class alongside New Zealand ace Earl Bamber and Heremana Malmezac.

It proved a battle as the team scored 14th outright after multiple punctures, on-track clashes and a late-race damper failure threatened to derail the team’s podium finish.

Also in the race were Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Am Cup contenders Sergio Pires and Marcel Zalloua of Valmont Racing, with Tigani Motorsport stablemate Theo Koundouris joining the duo.

The trio drove a Haas RT Audi R8 GT3 LMS Evo II and despite early contact the entry was placed inside the top 10 until an engine failure occurred with 90 minutes remaining.

Triple Eight Race Engineering also continued its Fanatec GT World Challenge Asia powered by AWS campaign in Suzuka as part of the Japan Cup.

Michael Grenier joined Prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim to finish third and sixth for the two races.

Also, prior to this Garth Walden raced at Le Mans in an LMP3 prototype scoring string results on his first visit.

The next round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia powered by AWS is at Queensland Raceway on August 2-4 as part of the Shannons SpeedSeries.
