RAM Motorsport chasing GT World Challenge Australia Am Title in 2024

RAM Motorsport duo Michael Sheargold and Garth Walden are targeting the GT World Challenge Australia Am class title heading into this weekend's round at Phillip Island.

After finishing second in 2022 and third in 2023, the pairing is looking to complete the set with a class victory at the conclusion of this year’s campaign.

Confident off the back of productive testing in the lead-up to the team's first GT event of the season, they understand the challenge ahead with a with great depth of talented Am  Class driver pairings in the class again this year. However, the RAM Motorsport crew feel they are best prepared for the season ahead.

“I’m looking forward to getting into it this weekend at Phillip Island,” said Sheargold.

“We’ve had good testing in the lead-up to our first event of the year. I’m feeling confident about my improvement and pace heading into this season.”

“I’d be very happy to get a result. It’s going to be a very competitive Am class, but we’re working to win it this year having already finished second and third in the class.”

This year's GT World Challenge Australia campaign for the RAM Motorsport crew gets underway at the scenic Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

Sheargold is looking forward to heading to the Victorian venue this weekend, as it is ideally suited to GT3 machinery.

“Phillip Island is a stunning location for a racetrack, not that you get time to take in the views while on track,” Sheargold continued.

“It’s just a good spot to be and a great place to race GT cars. It’s fast and flowing, and you can really lean on the aero through the corners.”

RAM Motorsport would also like to welcome new partners Oilstar Racing Brake Fluid and Jayco Sydney for coming on board in 2024.

GT World Challenge Australia on-track action commences Friday, April 12th, with two 1-hour practice sessions ahead of qualifying and Race 1 on Saturday and Race 2 on Sunday afternoon.
