Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia confirm half its Bathurst roster
Following on from a dominating display at the opening round of this year’s Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS at Phillip Island, Audi Sport Customer Racing has revealed the drive line-ups for half of its six entries for the upcoming LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour.
Spearheading the campaign in the Pro-Am Class are winners of the opening Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS race of the season Liam Talbot and Chaz Mostert. Joining the pair is Talbot’s regular co-driver Fraser Ross, in what was a successful partnership last year when the duo won on debut at the Mountain.

In addition to this, Mostert’s Walkinshaw Andretti United engineer Adam De Borre will oversee the campaign.
“Chaz and Liam had a great round at Phillip Island in the new-specification car, and I got some laps at Albert Park so we’re very confident with the package.
“It’s the best possible team to go to the Mountain with. I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited to get to the track given we have a real opportunity to challenge for a Bathurst 12 Hour victory.
“The Audi team are the best around, and drawing Chaz and Adam to the team is proof of that.”
After finishing on the Am Class podium at Bathurst last year, Marc Cini enters the around-the-clock classic with stability as he again teams with Mostert’s Bathurst 1000 winning co-driver Lee Holdsworth and experienced Western Australian Dean Fiore.
Both these entries will contest Pro-Am Class, which for this year is outright.
Rounding out the first announcement of drivers for Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia are brothers James and Theo Koundouris, who will be joined by David Russell, while Am Class rival Paul Stokell completes the team.
Each will contest the race in Audi’s latest specification R8 LMS Evo II.
“The first half of our 2022 Bathurst 12 Hour squad is fantastic,” said MPC boss Troy Russell.
“The shift to the Pro-Am regulations this year gives opportunities to people who might not have the chance in ‘usual’ years and they have all grabbed it.
“Each car has a really strong group of drivers, both from the Am component and to the professional drivers who have joined in.
“These are three strong, very balanced cars all of whom can compete for a strong result.”
The next round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS is the LIQUI MOLY Bathurst 12 Hour to be held on May 13-15.
