Dutton EMA Motorsport enters GT World Challenge Australia with Porsche and Cam Waters
The Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS ranks will be bolstered at Sandown by the addition of Dutton EMA Motorsport and Tickford Racing driver Cam Waters.
Already participating in Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, Dutton EMA Motorsport will join the likes of Triple Eight Race Engineering, Grove Motorsport and Audi Sport Customer Racing Australia in the Pro-Am ranks spearheaded by Waters.
Led by the experienced Mathew Nilsson, Dutton EMA Motorsport will enter a new Porsche 991 GT3-R in the remaining Fanatec GT World Challenge Australia Powered by AWS events, including the two Motorsport Australia Endurance Championship events at The Bend Motorsport Park and Mount Panorama as part of the Supercheap Auto Bathurst International.
GT3 is not new to Waters, the recent Supercars race winner finished seventh outright in the 2018 Bathurst 12 Hour driving a Strakka Racing Mercedes-AMG GT3.
Waters joins an impressive field of professional drivers in the Pro-Am field including regular rivals Shane van Gisbergen and Chaz Mostert plus current co-series leader Garth Tander.
“I have been keen to do more GT racing since 2018,” said Waters. “Diversifying into different categories creates new disciplines and challenges, and I can’t wait for my chance to drive the Porsche product and battle for race wins.”
Prior to the team’s debut at Sandown an extensive testing schedule has been set out, as the signing of Waters is a major coup for the operation according to Nilsson.
“Our Porsche 911 GT3 R programme has been progressing for quite some time now, with a lot of effort behind the scenes,” said Nilsson.
“Signing a Pro driver of the calibre and professionalism of Cam has been an important achievement. We welcome him to our team and look forward to working with him.”
Partnering Waters at Sandown will be Ben Stack, who is an experienced hand when it comes to racing the Porsche marque.
“Ben has been a big contributor to the establishment of Dutton EMA Motorsport”, said Nilsson. “We are pleased to provide him with the opportunity to gain further experience in the Porsche 911 GT3 R working closely with Cam during testing and contesting the Sandown event.”
The next round of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Powered by AWS will be held at Sandown on September 17-19.
